Exeter Centre for Cytomics

GW4 Cytometry Data Science Course

Unlock the Power of Cytometry Data with R

27–30 July 2026 | University of Exeter

Images of our Cytometry Data Science course.

Join us in Exeter for the GW4 Cytometry Data Science Workshop, a practical training course designed to help researchers analyse high-dimensional cytometry datasets in R and connect these workflows with imaging and spatial analysis.

Building on last year’s programme, the 2026 workshop has been expanded into a four-day modular format. It includes a dedicated introductory day for introducing R, more time for high-dimensional data analysis and machine learning, and a new imaging and spatial biology component.

Supported by the GW4 Cytometry Network, the workshop brings together researchers and technology experts for hands-on training, discussion, and collaborative learning in data-driven bioscience.

What you will learn

  • Reproducible and scalable flow cytometry analysis in R
  • Core programming concepts for those who are new to R
  • High-dimensional analysis, visualisation, and statistical workflows
  • Introductory machine learning approaches for cytometry data
  • Image and spatial analysis workflows using QuPath and R

Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for:

  • Researchers working with high-dimensional cytometry data or imaging data in the life sciences
  • Core facility and technology platform scientists
  • Postdoctoral researchers and early-career researchers
  • Master’s and PhD students

What Is Included

  • Expert-led practical training in R
  • Real-world workflows using high-parameter cytometry and imaging datasets
  • Informal networking opportunities
  • Refreshments and lunch provided

Experience Level

No advanced programming experience is required. The workshop is designed to be accessible, although some prior familiarity with R or RStudio will help participants get the most out of the practical sessions. Participants may bring their own laptop (provided Docker is installed) or use a workstation provided on site.
